Ali + David’s Intimate Boston Public Library Micro-wedding

Boston Public Library weddings are always some of my favorites to capture, especially when couples choose one of the BPL’s microwedding packages. The historic setting of the Guastavino Room makes for an unforgettable celebration—grand, yet intimate. For Ali + David, it was the perfect fit for a day focused on what mattered most: each other, their closest family and friends, and honoring the memory of their beloved pup, Ruby.

Ali and David’s love story is full of adventure and authenticity. They’re not ones for traditional dates—most of their favorites involve hopping on their motorcycle, exploring backroads, listening to music, and stopping at mom-and-pop spots for a meal. They love singing karaoke, thrifting, and even motorcycle charity runs.

One of Ali’s favorite memories with Dave is camping with Ruby, their sweet pup. She recalls a moment when a butterfly landed on Ruby just as Dolly Parton’s “Love is Like a Butterfly” played in the background—a memory that captures the kind of magic that runs through their story.

Their dream trips include road-tripping to Graceland or Dollywood, and in the next few years, they hope to continue building community and pursuing meaningful human rights work. For them, life is about love, connection, and experiences that matter.

The Ceremony at the BOSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY

Ali + David’s ceremony in the Guastavino Room was intimate and heartfelt, with just their closest family, friends, and a framed photo of Ruby looking on. The Guastavino Room, with its arched ceilings and timeless stonework, gave the day a sense of grandeur without losing its warmth.

After their vows, we explored both inside and outside the library for portraits—capturing the marble staircases, elegant architecture, and those iconic steps on Copley Square. It’s the perfect mix of history and romance for couples who want a Boston wedding that feels iconic but still personal.

About the Boston Public Library Microwedding Packages

The Boston Public Library offers microwedding and elopement packages for couples who want to celebrate in this historic landmark on a smaller scale. These packages typically include:

  • Access to the Guastavino Room for the ceremony.

  • A limited guest count (usually under 25–30 people).

  • Time for portraits inside and outside the library.

Because it’s still a working library, there are also restrictions. For example, outside food and drink aren’t permitted, music and amplified sound are limited, and décor must be minimal to protect the historic space. But honestly, the library doesn’t need much—its architecture is stunning all on its own.

For couples looking for a refined, meaningful, and manageable way to celebrate, the BPL’s microwedding packages are an incredible option.
