Annie + Craig's Celebrate Love and Whimsy at Dearly Studio
Why We Love Dearly Studio Weddings
As local Boston (erm, more specifically Somerville) wedding photographers, we’ve had the joy of photographing weddings at Dearly Studio many times — and it truly feels like home. Tucked into the heart of Somerville, this modern wedding venue is filled with gorgeous natural light, clean lines, and endless flexibility for couples to make it their own.
Dearly Studio is more than just a space, though. It’s a venue with a soul. Owned and operated with care, it’s intentionally designed to be welcoming to all couples. For us, that’s especially meaningful because we’ve partnered with the owner to co-create Queerly Beloved, a wedding event that celebrates queer love stories and connected LGBTQ+ couples with inclusive vendors in New England. Every time we step into Dearly Studio, it feels aligned with our values: community, creativity, and celebrating love in all its forms.
They have several (affordable!) options for couples looking for intimate ceremonies, with a ton of built-in after-party options a la Bow Market and the surrounding Union Square.
A Summer Wedding at Dearly Studio
This summer wedding started with portraits in a nearby park — the couple shared sweet moments under the trees, and we captured them in that perfect golden summer light. From there, we strolled together through Somerville’s streets to Dearly Studio, an easy and joyful walk that felt like part of the celebration itself.
We LOVED the details this couple chose - from the bride’s vibrant purple hair and muppet earings (Kermit and Miss Piggy! We sense a theme and we love it!) to the groom’s black on black with pops of floral in his tie and pocket swuare.
Ceremony + Reception Vibes at Dearly Studio
Back at Dearly Studio, the ceremony unfolded in front of family and friends. The Bride and her father entered to the Jurassic Park theme song (an EPIC choice). Once inside, the space’s minimalist, vintage-inspired design — was both warm and streaming natural light. The couple’s friend and local queer author and organizer Kimm Topping officiated the wedding and kept the focus entirely on the emotions, the importance of community, and the couple’s vows. It was intimate, stylish, and so full of love.
The transformation from ceremony to reception was seamless. Dearly was popping bubbly as soon as first kisses were had, and guests enjoyed sips of champagne while exchanging hugs with the happy couple. A colorful, retro, purple cake sat waiting to be cut and the iconic Dearly wall was waiting for their signature - but these two were smart and booked Dearly’s biggest option - so they had plenty of time to mingle before knocking items off their to do wedding list.
Why Couples Choose Dearly Studio
For couples looking for a local-to-Boston wedding venue that’s stylish yet approachable (and have a guest count of less than 12), Dearly Studio is the answer. Nestled right in Somerville, the studio has a modern, minimal design that still manages to feel warm and soulful. Think of it as vintage meets modern — clean white walls and polished floors paired with architectural charm, disco balls, dried florals, little neighborhood details, and a vibe that feels both fresh and timeless. It’s a space that works beautifully for couples who want their wedding to feel like them — creative, intentional, and a little outside the box.
Some of our favorite things about it:
The location is unbeatable: right in Somerville, steps away from Bow Market and Union Square, with endless spots for portraits. You can grab a craft cocktail, stop for ice cream, or wander into the record shop like these two to take just married photos with your favorite albums. No matter what, it all feels like part of the celebration.
It’s inclusive and welcoming — a space where LGBTQ+ couples, queer families, and allies feel celebrated.
It’s incredibly flexible — perfect for intimate ceremonies, all-day celebrations, or creative multi-use events (ask about their nearby partner locations for bigger ceremonies!)
It’s modern without feeling cold — a small space with big feels that’s full of natural light, personality, and possibilities.
Bow Market & Union Square: The Perfect Somerville Backdrop
One of the best parts of choosing Dearly Studio for your wedding is its neighborhood. Just steps away, Bow Market is a hub of creativity, food, and local culture. With over 30 small businesses — from breweries and wine bars to ice cream shops and handmade goods — it’s a favorite stop for couples before or after portraits. We’ve photographed couples grabbing a celebratory drink, sharing dumplings, or just soaking up the colorful, artsy vibe of the market. It adds such a fun, urban-meets-community feel to a wedding gallery.
Right nearby, Union Square offers even more charm, with vintage storefronts, murals, and tree-lined corners that make for gorgeous wedding portraits. It’s the perfect balance of modern Boston energy and classic neighborhood character — a combination that makes Somerville such a beloved choice for weddings.
Dearly Studio is a true gem in the New England wedding scene. It’s a unique place in the Boston wedding space for elopers and micro-weddings where vintage character meets modern design, and where every celebration feels like a one-of-a-kind story (because it kind of really is!). We’re so proud to photograph here again and again.
Inclusive Wedding Photography at Dearly Studio
As a queer-owned wedding photography business in Boston, it’s important to us that our couples feel not only seen but celebrated. Spaces like Dearly Studio make that easy — it’s designed to be safe, inclusive, and full of joy. Whether you’re planning a queer wedding, a nontraditional celebration, or a modern city-chic party, this venue and our photography style are the perfect match.
The best part? Dearly Studio is surrounded by the creative energy of Somerville. From the vintage charm of Union Square to the eclectic mix of shops and restaurants at Bow Market, there are endless opportunities to step outside for portraits that feel authentic to the neighborhood. It’s Boston city energy, but with that artistic, community-driven twist that makes Somerville so special.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that’s stylish, inclusive, and authentically you, Dearly Studio might be the spot. And we’d love to be there with cameras in hand, capturing every laugh, tear, and dance move.
