Wedding: Intimate Fall Microwedding at The Groton Inn

Ashley + Ben had the sweetest fall microwedding at The Groton Inn. It’s a place that holds special significance for these two lovebirds. The lawn behind the inn looks out onto the rolling pastures and gorgeous foliage that speckles Gibbet Hill’s property. The farm and restaurant is where Ben proposed, and the castle beyond their pastures is where we shot their engagement photos last summer.

We love The Groton Inn’s beautiful bridal suite (that wallpaper, though!). It was the perfect backdrop for the ivory and blush details in Ashley’s bouquet, and when we hung her dress from the the french doors we knew we were in for a fabulous day.

Looking out onto their past, they began their future together. The weather was beautiful, I love fall days when the sky is filled with puffy white clouds and it’s warm enough to go without a jacket.

New England weather is completely wild. As the short ceremony progressed, the sky filled with clouds, making the hills and the couple really pop.

Then the sky did this! It didn’t rain, thunder, or lightening. As the sun set and golden hour began around us, the sky filled with dark clouds creating the most incredible vignettes. After a few minutes, it cleared up completely. Get ready for the colors from sunset - it was beautiful!

After a few family photos, we headed inside Forge + Vine for their small reception then popped back outside for one more epic sunset photo (keep scrolling!).

And let me just say, we were delighted to see a big wedding party, especially because Ashley + Ben kept their guest list small so as to keep everyone safe and comply with local event mandates. It was such a treat to do big group photos again, especially when you have a crew of fun-loving people who are just so excited to celebrate their friend’s love.
