Beers at Lamplighter + a Prospect Hill Proposal | Jess + Erik’s Engagement Session
A Love Story Rooted in Somerville
Jess + Erik matched on Bumble, but their first real spark happened over beers at Lamplighter in Somerville. One drink turned into two (at Lord Hobo this time), and Erik walked Jess home to end the night. That was it—the start of everything. That night set the tone for the relationship that followed: easy, thoughtful, and full of connection.
The Proposal at Prospect Hill Park
Fast forward two years—same day, same city. Jess thought they were walking to Lamplighter again, but Erik had other plans. He rerouted them up to Prospect Hill Park, climbed the tower, and proposed with all of Somerville stretched out below. Absolutely perfect.
Their Engagement Session
So of course, we had to go back to the beginning for their photos. A couple of beers at Lamplighter (their OG date spot) set the tone, and then we headed to Prospect Hill Park to soak in the views where Erik popped the question. The whole thing felt like the best kind of date night—easy, fun, and completely them.
A Couple Who Loves Adventure
Ask Jess about her favorite memories and she’ll tell you about their travels. From a spontaneous trip to Portland, ME—where they stayed on a houseboat, ate pizza in the woods, and caught Lady Lamb live—to everyday walks that end at a favorite restaurant, these two know how to mix planning with a little bit of whimsy.
Looking Ahead
The next few years? More travel, building their careers, and continuing to grow their relationship (with a family on the horizon). Honeymoon plans aren’t locked in yet, but something beachy sounds like the dream after their Somerville Theater wedding.
Couples like Jess + Erik make engagement sessions so much fun. From beers to sunset views, every second felt natural, celebratory, and true to them. It was such a joy to capture their story in the places where it all began.
