As a wedding photographer, Lake Pearl is a dream to shoot. Between the soft lakeside light, the variety of indoor and outdoor spaces, and the way the venue team makes everything flow seamlessly, it’s a place where you can tell a full wedding story without ever running out of inspiration. We kicked things off at a nearby hotel, where Meghan and her crew were cozied up in matching pjs, sipping bubbly, and soaking in the morning excitement. The details were all perfectly styled in the soft window light (and yes, we may have moved a chair or two to get the shot). Bridesmaids’ reactions as Meghan stepped out in her dress later at the venue… were pure joy. The whole morning had that warm, buzzing energy that only happens on a wedding day.
The plan had been for an outdoor ceremony, but Mother Nature had other ideas. With the rain coming down, we pivoted indoors—and honestly, it was beautiful. The space felt warm and intimate, and the energy in the room shifted in that way it does when everyone’s gathered a little closer together.
When we photograph a ceremony, we try to be everywhere without actually being anywhere—slipping between guests, leaning into corners, catching a look between the couple, the happy tears from a parent, the way hands find each other during the vows. We don’t over-direct or interrupt, but we do anticipate—so when laughter bursts out or a tear slips down a cheek, we’re already there with the shot.

And on this day, being indoors didn’t take away from that at all—in fact, it made everything feel even more connected. The rain outside was just background music.
Once the knot was tied, we weren’t about to let the weather keep us from playing outside. We grabbed our cameras, the wedding party, and a few umbrellas, and headed out for group photos and couples portraits as the last light faded. Hair got a little damp, dresses got a little splashed, and we laughed through every second. The moody skies gave us some of the most breathtaking images of the day, and our candid-heavy style fit the vibe perfectly.
Once the party started, the room was buzzing. We shoot receptions the same way we shoot ceremonies—always moving, always watching, never pulling you out of the moment. The intros were so much fun and their first dance included a few unexpected moves that had the whole room screaming. When the dance floor finally opened up, it was packed. We chased the light from the chandeliers, framed up shots between the crowd, and let the chaos unfold in the most photogenic way possible.
By the end of the night, we had the kind of gallery that feels like you were right there—wet shoes, champagne spills, and all. Because that’s what a reception is about: not just how it looked, but how it felt.
