Wedding: Dark & Moody Halloween Microwedding at Hammond Castle

You can’t ask for a more perfect wedding venue than historic Hammond Castle, which sits right on the water in Gloucester, MA. Everything about this incredible castle is absolute decadence, from the indoor courtyard to the massive main hall with ceilings as high as Hogwarts. We were so excited to photograph this spooky, moody, full moon microwedding for Monica and Robert this past Halloween.

As the sun set outside, darkening the castle, they had the happiest ceremony officiated by Robert’s Father. There were so many laughs and heartfelt moments. This is why we love intimate weddings, there’s nothing quite like it.

After their ceremony, we sprinted outside to capture the last bit of sunset for some seriously gorgeous couples photos (you do NOT want to miss those colors!). Everything from the horizon to the moss on the stone was breathtaking. What a location! We couldn’t have pulled this part off without our Magbox and Profoto A1Xs.

When you’re working with a tight timeline, you have to move fast. We were losing light quickly but wanted to capture the couple, the ambient light inside and the sunset outside. We planned these next shots in advance so when it was time to execute it we knew exactly what we needed to do and all in all, it took about 5 minutes.
