Molly & Jackie's Romantic Rhode Island Engagement Session
A Hidden Gem for a Rhode Island Engagement Session
There’s something special about golden hour on the coast — and Molly and Jackie found the perfect hidden spot for theirs. Tucked away in a quiet seaside town in Rhode Island, this secluded beach became the dreamiest backdrop for their engagement session. It's a place they stumbled upon during one of their many adventures, and it couldn’t have been more perfect for capturing this chapter of their love story. If you're looking for a lesbian wedding photographer or planning your own LGBTQ+ engagement session in Rhode Island, this coastal setting offers all the charm and intimacy you could ask for.
Sunset, Saltwater, and All the Love on a Secluded RI Beach
We started by wandering barefoot across warm rocks, waves lapping gently at our ankles. The light was soft and golden, reflecting off the water and casting the most gorgeous glow around them. As the sun dipped closer to the horizon, we waded into the ocean where the sea and sky seemed to blend into one — the kind of romantic moment that feels like it was made just for them. For LGBTQ+ couples seeking natural, unposed engagement photography in New England, this kind of location is a dream.
Bubbly, Sunnies, and a Whole Lot of Joy
To wrap up the evening, they threw on their sunnies, popped a bottle of bubbly, and toasted to the journey ahead. It was relaxed, joyful, and full of the kind of easy love that’s a dream to photograph. As a lesbian and queer wedding photographer, it’s so special to be welcomed into these moments — especially when they unfold with such authenticity.
From Proposal to Wedding Day
This isn’t the first time I’ve gotten to witness a big milestone in Molly and Jackie’s story — I also had the honor of photographing Molly’s proposal to Jackie at Halibut Point State Park. You can read all about that magical day here.
And the best part? I’ll be joining them again soon to capture their wedding day at the incredible Hope Artiste Village in Rhode Island — one of my favorite venues for non-traditional and queer weddings in New England.
Tips for Your Beach Engagement Session in Rhode Island
If you're planning your own beach engagement session in Rhode Island (or anywhere in New England), here are a few tips to make the most of it:
Plan around golden hour: The hour before sunset provides the dreamiest light for your photos.
Be ready for wind: Coastal sessions almost always come with a breeze — bring a brush, secure loose hairstyles, and embrace the windswept vibes!
Wear comfortable shoes (or go barefoot!): Many of the best spots involve walking on sand, rocks, or uneven paths.
Bring layers: Even in summer, evenings on the beach can get chilly.
Consider a celebratory touch: Popping a bottle of champagne or bringing your favorite beverage adds fun and personality to your shoot.
Pick a meaningful location: Whether it’s a beach you love or a new place you discovered together, personal spots make the session even more special.
